K-VIP is a win-win for Kentucky because it feeds our hungry children and expands market opportunities for local farmers. K-VIP funding is available for summer food service program sponsors that purchase produce directly from Kentucky farmers.

The purpose of the Kentucky-Grown Vegetable Incentive Program (K-VIP) is to serve summer meals to Kentucky’s hungry children that include the fresh, nutritious, locally-grown fruit and vegetables that are plentiful in summer months. K-VIP creates a financial incentive for feeding site sponsors to include Kentucky-grown fruit and vegetables in the summer meals they serve and boost participation in summer feeding programs in the Commonwealth. 

Nutrition education at participating sites is encouraged. Free resources can be downloaded here, or connect with your local extension office.

If you are a participating K-VIP sponsor you will need to:

  1. Track your monthly produce spending on the form below.
  2. Send the original receipts to Tina Garland, 107 Corporate Drive, Frankfort, KY 40601.
  3. Keep a copy of your receipts on file.

Receipt tracking and submissions are due:

  • May Receipts – Due June 15
  • June Receipts – Due July 15
  • July Receipts – Due August 15
  • August Receipts – Due September 15

Please note: Sponsors will only be reimbursed for funds spent at Kentucky farms. If you are working with produce vendors or other distributors, please contact Kate McDonald at

K-VIP is generously funded by the Kentucky Agriculture Development Board. The Kentucky Association of Food Banks is administering the program in partnership with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and the Kentucky Department of Education.
